Court grants bail to buttocks-boiling grand parents; victim discharged from hospital
An Accra Circuit Court has granted bail to the parents who boiled the buttocks of their eleven year old granddaughter.

Madam Christiana Torkono, a 50year old trader and James Agbamavo, a 65 year old electrician were bailed with the sum of fifteen thousand cedis each with three sureties.

They were arrested and arraigned before court for boiling the buttocks of their granddaughter as punishment for wetting her bed.

The act, they claimed was to deter her from wetting the bed. They left the girl in the room for days, with her buttocks rotting as a result.

Presiding Judge, Sedina Agbemava adjourned the case to March 5 by which time the victim would be well enough to testify in court.

Meanwhile, the young girl, whose name has been withheld, has been discharged, after a month of lying still on her hospital bed at the Police Hospital.

She can now walk and jump like any child of her age, Joy News’ Anna Agyapong can confirm.

She told Agyepong she feels much better and is happy to move to her new location.

The Social Services of the Police Hospital are preparing notes to send the little girl to her new foster parents.

Head of Social Services and Police Hospital Coordinator Network Against Child Abuse, DSP Elvis Bawa Sadongo said all is set for her to go to her new home.
