Interior Minister-designate: It’s time to provide insurance cover for Policemen

Interior Minister-designate Kwesi Ahwoi has stressed the need to insure police officers since they risk their lives to protect the nation.
He said this will ensure that families of these officers are financially secured even if they [the officers] lose their lives or are incapacitated in their line of duty.
Mr Ahwoi made these statements when he appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Friday.
The minister-designate also highlighted the importance of ‘reinstating authority’ in the police, saying Ghanaians are not afraid of the police anymore.
He added that the institution will be resourced more to enable them increase patrols.
