First Lady supports Gambaga Witches camp

Lordina Mahama

First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama has supported inmates of Gambaga witches camp in the East Mamprusi District of the Northern Region, with food items worth GH˘3,500.

The donation was made up 20 bags of rice, 20 gallons of cooking oil and five cartons of soft drinks.

Mr Adams Imoro, District Chief Executive, who presented the items on behalf of the First Lady, said the donation was in fulfillment of a promise she made when she was campaigning for the ruling National Democratic during Election 2012.

He said it was crucial for society to remember and show care to the disadvantaged during Christmas so that they would also appreciate and enjoy the importance of the occasion.

Naa Yahaya Wuni, Chief of Gambaga and a caretaker of the camp, who received the donation thanked the First Lady for the gesture and praised her for the generosity and affection shown towards the inmates.

He appealed to government and development patterns to assist in training the women to be able to generate sustainable income for their upkeep.

Naa Wuni advised the public to do away with the negative picture painted by a cross section of the media about the camp.
