The 2013 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) ended yesterday, June 24 but without the anticipated leakage of examination questions or cheating. Rather, the media highlighted the increased number of pregnant candidates who were refused the opportunity to complete their course.
Another interesting feature of the examination that received prominence was the high interest of adults who are seeking to improve their career opportunities with some education.
Joy News caught up with one of such adults, 46-year old Mathias Bayuo Zinyee, of Malamkrom LA JHS in the Techiman Municipality of the Brong Ahafo who was elated to have successfully completed this year's BECE.
Mathias is married and is a father of five children. All of his five children are currently schooling whilst his wife provides financial backing through farming.
He is zealous to become a medical practitioner and therefore takes keen interest in all science related subjects.
In an interview with Joy News, he underscored the importance of education and urged all school drop outs to go back to school.
